Alamo Car Rental

Opening for business in 1974 Alamo rental car opened with four locations and has grown to be the third largest rental car company in the United States. Based out of Clayton, Missouri; Alamo earned a lot of public credibility for being the first with an unlimited mileage program where a person could rent a car and drive for as many miles as they wish for no additional charge.
In the 1980’s the company decided that it was time to grow opening state of the art rental facilities to ease the flow of hundreds of customers a day the first being in Tampa, Florida in 1982 the next opening in Orlando, Florida in 1985.
In 1990 the company revolutionized damage waivers by creating three different types of coverage with three different prices all tailored to fit a wide variety of consumers. Alamo decided to change the game in 1995 by being the first rental car company to have online booking capabilities that allowed the consumer to check rates at their different locations across the globe and to select what vehicle they wanted for their travel dates.
Then in the 2005 the company stepped up their internet booking again by being the first and only with an Online Check-In system, with which they were able to offer self serve kiosks at select locations across the U.S. which helped the company win the 2007 “Extra Mile Award” presented by Budget Travel Magazine.
With Alamo having its first locations in Florida it would only make sense that they partner with “The Happiest Place on Earth” right. Well they did back in 2002 Alamo partnered up with Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California making it the official rental car of the most frequently visited tourist destinations in all of North America, they have also teamed up with
Europcar manufacturing the world’s largest rental car network in the world.
The company and National Car Rental a subsidiary of Alamo has recently been purchased by a family out of St. Louis, Missouri which owns a company called Enterprise Holdings the very same company that owns Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Alamo now has over 1,000 rental locations in 42 countries that span the globe from the North America to Central and South America and across the pond over to Europe and Africa. They even have locations in Australia and the numerous Caribbean islands. Typically the make of cars that they use are General Motors, Toyota, Nissan and Volvo.
Alamo Rent a Car has a 30 year history of pioneering new ways in the rental car industry with low rates on high quality vehicles.
